Buying a home is probably the largest investment you will ever make. Getting a survey ensures you know exactly what you are committing to buy.
Don’t rely just on a valuation - a lender valuation does not assess the condition of the property, it simply decides if it is worth the money they are lending you. For peace of mind the Law Society recommend you commission a survey.
Don’t delay
You should commission a survey as soon as the seller has accepted your offer, as once contracts have been exchanged you are liable for remedying any defects that later come to light.
